Healing Arts Chicago, which has embedded artists in City mental health clinics, celebrates Arts for EveryBody by hosting a city-wide creative summit featuring artists, community and health organizations, and other stakeholders in a day of making, learning, and discussion through workshops, talks, performances, and other forms of activation. Life-size animated puppets and colorful pinatas will greet participants at the family-friendly free event featuring participatory art-making, dance therapy, sound and poetry workshops, mural art, chair yoga, healthy food vendors and more. The Healing Arts Chicago will take place on July 27th at Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Jackson Blvd from 10a.m., to 5p.m. IMAN will celebrate Arts for EveryBody through their work to “reimagine the world as it could be,” by centering the historically disinvested neighborhood of Englewood with a mini-festival in the newly developed Go Green Griot Plaza, a previously abandoned lot. This free outdoor celebration will feature headliners Vic Mensa, aja monet, an outdoor skating rink, a communal drumming circle, live music, storytelling, dance and poetry-making, a double-dutch demo, food samples, cooking and more. The event will take place on July 27th at Go Green Griot Plaza, 63rd and Racine from 4p.m., to 8p.m. For more information, visit www.artsforeverybody.org
