Union League Boys & Girls Clubs invites the Humboldt Park community to enjoy a free Back-to-School Block Party at its Barreto Club, 1214 N. Washtenaw Street, Friday, Aug. 16th, from 9:30am – 3:00pm.  Among the family-friendly festivities taking place both on the block and in the Club will be a bounce house, lively games for all skill levels, pick-up basketball, face painting, and free haircuts for youth, not to mention traditional BBQ fare including grilled hotdogs, hamburgers and all the fixings. Plus, youth will be given school supplies, hygiene supplies, and brand-new socks to start the school year with learning tools and confidence, all thanks to the generous support of Family Dollar, NASCAR Chicago Street Race, Dove, Matthew & Michelle Sheahin, and Kevin Rosenberg. The festive event is open to all ages and will take place rain or shine. No pre-registration is needed. In addition to the above support, Union League Boys & Girls Clubs thanks ABC7, Blue Cross Blue Shield, RSM LLP, Mondelez International, and Crowe LLP for their generosity in providing volunteers and supplies this back-to-school season.
