The Russian Anti-Woke Visa

By Daniel Nardini

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - CommentaryIn a decree signed by Russian Vladimir Putin, anyone who believes in family values, believes in the religious over the material concerns, believes in traditional and conservative political values, are against liberal and woke ideologies, and want to be in a country where cultural values aligned with their own, can apply for what is being called an anti-woke Russian visa. This visa is being aimed at anyone in North America and Europe, and with this visa individuals are not required to learn the Russian language or know Russian history and society. Under this visa, the Russian government can help such individuals who are anti-woke move anywhere in the Russian Federation for a minimum of three months, and such individuals can eventually become not only legal permanent residents but also citizens of Russia.

For some odd reason, such a visa has aroused the interest of American conservatives who believe that the United States has become “way too left” and now fear a complete Democratic victory in the November presidential and congressional elections. In my view, this visa is a Trojan Horse. The Russian government is trying to get westerners, especially Americans, to go to Russia and become pawns for their propaganda as well as willing supporters of Russian policies, whether political or even military, against their own country. I have the ask the question, “will American conservatives turn their backs so badly on the country they were born and raised in, and whose values taught them to be so American, turn against their own country to the point of taking up arms or helping an enemy of the United States?” If you can move to a country that is obviously against the United States in every way, then you CAN become an enemy of the United States.

To all those who are even remotely considering accepting this Russian Anii-Woke visa, I say to them if you do this you are traitors to the United States and all that it stands for. There are many aspects of the United States I may not like, and would not like to see happen, but I will NOT turn my back on the country I was born and raised in. I have lived in countries like Taiwan and South Korea precisely because they are friends and allies of the United States. I helped work and contribute to these wonderful countries because I wanted to impart some of my American values there. I have people in Taiwan and South Korea who are forever grateful to me for that. I will NOT work for America’s current enemies, and so I warn all of my readers to not even remotely consider this type of visa no matter how attractive it may look to them because of their conservative values. In my opinion, Russia is one of the worst countries to live in at this point, and more now than ever Americans, regardless of their political affiliations, should stand strong and united and stand strong with America’s friends and allies against those enemies that would entice our less informed citizenship from becoming cannon fodder for totalitarian governments’ propaganda purposes.
