Cook County Clerk’s Office Seeking Bilingual Election Judges

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Business

The Cook County Clerk’s Office is seeking bilingual election judges to work in the upcoming November Presidential Election to support democracy and earn some cash in the process by assisting voters who will be casting ballots in their native language. The Clerk’s Office offers ballot access to registered suburban voters in 12 languages, including English, Arabic, Chinese, Gujarati, Hindi, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Ukrainian and Urdu. Election Judges who speak any of these languages can be of tremendous assistance to voters in helping them navigate the voting process and feel supported when they cast their ballot, according to Clerk Cedric Giles.  The Clerk’s Office is seeking applicants for Election Judges (paid $250) and Polling Place Technicians (paid $400) to assist voters and ensure that election polling places operate efficiently.  To qualify, prospective election judges must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter, and reside in Cook County. Those interested in serving on Election Day can complete an online application at www.cookcountyclerk.com/work or call (312) 603-0970.
