Last Wednesday, more than 100+ West Side youth runners ages 7-11 got hands-on running instruction and inspiration from Chicago Marathon record-breakers and Olympic runners at the 3rd annual Bank of America Play It Forward Clinic. The youth participants from local nonprofits Girls on the Run-Chicago and Chicago Run spent two hours rotating through various stations to learn valuable skills like stretching, pacing strategies, warm-up techniques, endurance, and sportsmanship from some of the world’s most elite runners, including Meb Keflezighi, Galen Rupp, Emily Sisson and Treniere Moser. The Bank of America Play It Forward Clinic series draws on the bank’s portfolio of iconic sports partnerships, leveraging the power of sports to close the opportunity gap in youth sports. The 46th Bank of America Chicago Marathon was held Sunday with a record field of 50,000+ participants.
