With the days slowly turning warmer, many of us are longing to hit the beach. This Earth Day, Friday, April 22 at noon, Shedd Aquarium is offering an opportunity to do just that –while helping the environment too. Volunteers to Shedd’s first Adopt-a-Beach event of the season also have the chance to win two tickets to one of Shedd’s Right Bite Dinner Series event in October. During the Adopt-a-Beach event, volunteers equipped with gloves, bags, and tally sheets will groom the beach for items that cannot be collected by the Chicago Park District’s tractors. Experts from Shedd’s Great Lakes conservation team will be on hand to guide volunteers throughout the event and discuss the importance of keeping the surrounding areas of Lake Michigan clean. Adopt-a-Beach will take place at 12th Street Beach, 1200 S. Lynn White Dr., on Museum Campus.
