State Senator Martin Sandoval (D-11) votes “no” on Senate pension proposals.

State Senator Martin Sandoval (D-Chicago) refused to vote last week on measures that outright break the promises the state has made to public employees.

“Both Senate Bill 1 and Senate Bill 35 were inadequate in protecting the public employees and working families of Illinois,” said Senator Sandoval, member of the Senate Licensed Activities and Pensions Committee. “Both proposals would strip workers of the benefits promised when they were hired. Working families are planning to retire and rightfully rely on their pensions. Under the measures proposed, the state would deny those promises.”

Senator Sandoval represents the 11th Senate District, which includes the neighborhoods of Brighton Park, Clearing, Gage Park, Garfield Ridge, Little Village, West Lawn, and West Cook municipalities of Bedford Park, Burbank, Cicero, Forest View, Lyons, McCook, Stickney, Summit and Riverside.
