Can that smartphone in your pocket actually help make Chicago a better place to live? From Rogers Park to Roseland, Englewood to Edgewater, more and more people are using mobile apps to connect with friends, to navigate the city, to manage their work, and to have fun. But can we use these new technologies to improve our neighborhoods, live a little greener, and help our communities thrive?

To answer this question, the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT), a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that helps cities become more sustainable, is holding an Urban Sustainability Apps Competition. The competition will team community activists and leaders with computer programmers, mobile application developers, designers, coders, and others to create apps that help our neighborhoods get greener, more affordable, and more livable for everyone.  For more information, visit www.cnt.org.
