It has been six years since Paul Blart has kept the malls safe and this time the malls of Vegas call for him. As Paul Blart [Kevin James] takes his daughter Maya Blart [Raini Rodriguez] on a road trip adventure before she heads off to college, their seemingly smooth vacation takes a turn when duty calls. “It was just like being home,” said Raini Rodriguez the Texas native, who phoned Lawndale Bilingual Newspaper this week to talk about Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 DVD release. “The first time around it was the most fun I have had on a set. The second time around was even better because we had such incredible comedians. Not only is Kevin [James] the best to work with, but we also had Loni Love who had all of us cracking up all the time.” In Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 the focus is on the dynamic between Paul Blart and his daughter, which Rodriguez has said was quite touching and a coming of age story. “This time we really get to see the relationship between Maya and her father, which I personally enjoyed because I think it’s a story that will speak to that father-daughter relationship,” said Rodriguez. “I really enjoyed playing Maya who in the movie was going through the same life transition as I was at that time. So it was amazing to see on screen their journey together.” Rodriguez who is currently starring on Austin and Ally, is looking forward to directing episodes of the popular TV series as well as collaborate with her actor brother Rico Rodriguez, who currently stars on Modern Family. “I am looking forward at what’s to come and I really hope people enjoy Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.” Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is currently out on DVD.
