Want to give back to your community, but are overwhelmed by the many available options? Find your perfect volunteer opportunity at the fourth annual Chicago Volunteer Expo on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chicago Academy of Sciences / Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Dr. The expo, founded organically in 2013 by the Nature Museum’s staff and volunteers, will showcase the civic engagement opportunities available in the Chicagoland area at more than 85 nonprofit organizations. Participants can have individualized conversations with organization representatives to learn about each nonprofit’s mission and how volunteers can make a difference. Attendees can immediately give back through two “speed volunteering” opportunities: turn used plastic bags into beautiful, functional sleeping mats for Chicago’s homeless and save the lives of up to three people by donating blood to the American Red Cross’s onsite blood drive from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. As thanks for their civic engagement, all Volunteer Expo attendees can enjoy free admission to the Nature Museum. For the latest information on the Volunteer Expo, visit the website and connect on Facebook.com/Chicago Volunteer Expo and on Twitter @ChicagoVolExpo.
