Esperanza Health Centers Chicago’s southwest side is home of the highest quality primary care in the country, according to recently released data from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). On the heels of National Health Centers Week, Esperanza Health Centers received the 2017 National Quality Leader Award from HRSA, placing Esperanza among the top three percent of all health centers in the United States. Only two health centers in Illinois received the designation this year. This is Esperanza’s second year in a row receiving top honors. National Quality Leader Awards go to health centers that exceed national clinical quality benchmarks for chronic disease management, preventive care, and perinatal/prenatal care. Receiving the National Quality Leader Award is significant for the community Esperanza serves. Many of Esperanza’s patients live at or near poverty, and 28 percent of them are uninsured. Esperanza’s staff works to provide high quality health and wellness services, while also recognizing the need to address challenges patients face outside of the doctor’s office. Esperanza Health Centers plans to expand its services in the coming year. In addition to existing services at two health centers in Little Village, and one in Marquette Park, plans for a brand new health center in Brighton Park in 2018 mean increasing capacity to serve an additional 20,000 people with the highest quality health care services available.
