“A Tale of Two Cities: Bridging Chicago’s Opportunity Divide” is the theme of the League of Women Voters of Chicago (LWV Chicago) annual State of the City luncheon and fundraiser on Wednesday, April 25, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson Blvd. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased through Eventbrite. Natalie Moore, WBEZ-FM South Side reporter, will deliver opening remarks and moderate a panel discussion. Moore is the author of “The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation,” which won the 2016 Chicago Review of Books award for nonfiction. The esteemed panelists are Evelyn J. Diaz, President, Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights; Zachary Fardon, Managing Partner, King & Spalding and former U.S. Attorney, Northern District of Illinois; and Juan Salgado, Chancellor, City Colleges of Chicago. Tickets are priced as follows: LWV Members: $115 before April 18; Non-members: $135 before April 18; Young professionals (35 and younger) and employees of nonprofits: $75 before April 18.
