Recently appointed State Representative of the 4th District Delia Ramirez, following her public ceremony held at Humboldt Park United Methodist Church, met with the district’s committeemen. “I have always said that the real work started the day after the primary election, that’s why I’ve spent the last nine months meeting with community groups, visiting schools, and working with legislators to prepare for a productive, progressive session in Springfield,” said Delia Ramirez, Representative-elect in the 4th District. “It’s an honor to represent the 4th District, and I’m excited to continue the fight for affordable housing, fully-funded public education, and accessible healthcare.” The seat was previously vacated by Representative Cynthia Soto, who resigned from her position after nearly 18 years of service. Ramirez won the Democratic nomination on March 20th with nearly 48 percent of the vote in a four-way race, and received more than 31,500 votes in the general election. The 4th District includes Humboldt Park, Hermosa, Bucktown, West Town, Ukrainian Village, East Village, and Logan Square. “I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for the hundreds of volunteers that knocked on doors, made phone calls, and hosted house parties to talk about our shared vision for the 4th District,” said Representative-elect Ramirez. “I will continue to work with my neighbors throughout the district to advocate for the resources and services that our families deserve, and I want to thank Representative Soto for her nearly 18 years of service to this community.”
