LAF, the largest provider of free, high-quality civil legal services for people living in poverty in Cook County, today announced it has changed its name to Legal Aid Chicago. The organization officially announced its new name and unveiled a new logo at its annual luncheon in front of a crowd of 700. Legal Aid Chicago’s 150-person staff, including 85 attorneys, transforms lives by securing economic stability, stable housing, basic healthcare, fair working conditions, and protection from abuse for clients. The staff’s deep expertise in all areas of poverty law allows them to handle the complex and interconnected legal issues that their clients face. The organization has been serving Cook country residents for over 50 years. In addition to providing free, comprehensive services and deep expertise to their clients, Legal Aid Chicago collaborates with others to inform its work and expand its impact. Partnering with community groups and social service providers allows the organization to identify the issues impacting vulnerable communities, while partnering with the legal and business communities in Chicago allows the organization to engage pro bono lawyers and other volunteers.
