Join columnist Ray Hanania as he discusses Chicago politics, growing up Arab in America, and offers up some of his unusual standup comedy at the Orland Park Library, 14921 Ravinia Avenue, on Thursday, Sept. 12 beginning at 6:30p.m., and at the Palos Heights Library, 12501 S. 71st Avenue, on Tuesday, Sept. 17 beginning at 6:30p.m. Both appearances are free and open to the public. Hanania covered Chicago City Hall from 1977 until 1992, has written several books including a humor book on growing up Arab in America “I’m Glad I Look Like a Terrorist,” and has performed standup comedy for audiences across the country and around the world including performances in Toronto, Dubai, London, Jerusalem, Beirut and New York. The recipient of four Lisagor Awards, the Sigma Delta Chi Award and was named Best Ethnic Columnist in America by the New America Media, Hanania writes on regional politics and humor for the Southwest News newspaper group, and on Middle East issues for the Arab News in Riyadh and Dubai.
